Default Opera Mini on Blackberry 8320

Please Login to Remove!

I am a proud new owner of a Blackberry 8320 w/ T-Mobile. I am connecting through wifi because I choose not to have the Data plan with T-Mobile, and wifi is readily available to most places I travel. I have a couple of email addresses through AOL and it seems that everytime I turn around it will not let me connect to AOL's website. It says "Unable to find the requested server."

So I downloaded Opera Mini 4 and let it test the connection with WiFi on. Is there a possibility that Opera is still trying to use T-Mobile data connection or is it only using WiFi. I don't want to have outrageous charges using T-Mobiles data. Does anyone else use Opera instead of BB? Oh and it connects to AOL like a dream!

It's amazing what some people will do to avoid paying $19.99 for an unlimited data plan

I don't think it'll allow you to do kind of a "pay by use" data if you are not signed up for a data plan. If in doubt, try turning off the wifi and see if Opera Mini works.

There are a few threads on what is possible over wifi without a data plan. One really long one is this:

Wirelessly posted (TMO 8120 4.5.0.52)

Pay T Mobile the $5.99 a month for generic data and use it also when away from WiFi.

I didn't think you could use Opera Mini WITHOUT a data plan. I tried that and Opera Mini didn't work for me. Went back to the website and the disclaimer tells you that you need a data plan in order for MIni to work.

ok, i've had my blackberry curve 8320 since christmas, and began using opera mini about 2 months ago. it works perfectly fine with just about every site. and the best thing is, i dont have a data plan, i just use wifi, and the internet works fine for me, so you should have no problems. i was just wondering if i paid 5.99 for the internet from tmobile, can i still use opera mini to browse the web with full pages, because opera mini always renders the full page as it would look on a computer?
