That would depend on the services available on the OTHER persons phone.

Email, MMS, or Bluetooth are the most widely used methods.

Thanks Shaun. I just moved up from a three year old Treo 650. On the Treo there was an option to add an attachment to sms text messages (I believe they were sms)

You have to do it via mms.

Essentially that's what you're doing, it's just called MMS when there's media attached to it. Go to your pictures, highlight the picture you want to send, and press Menu > Send as MMS.

I just found an article about my carrier sprint denying MMS for smart phones as of March 08. I'd put the link but currently 7 posts short of that ability

No, from the picture menu, the only options are email, bb messenger, and bluetooth. I suppose a work around would be to figure out the recipients 'phonenumber@gateway.theircarrier.com'. But that's a pain and I guarantee my friends wouldn't know that!
