Hmm... it seems that even for those who said the OS 5 works fine, there's a "but..." at the end, meaning not 100% working fine with all of the applications... so I think I'm gonna hold off upgrading my 4.6 until it's OFFICIALLY out on the BlackBerry website. Bummer...

Too many problems and not stable.... reverting back to 4.6.0.250

3 rd party apps also did not work fine.....

I liked the interface but would wait for a stable official version from Blackberry.

but over all
I noticed that now with OS 5 there are 11 volume levels for ringers (Silent plus 1-10), whereas with 4.6 I can only remember something like low/medium/high. I'd had mine set to low on 4.6, and when I upgraded to 5 it was set to "2".

I think I've run into a bug with this firmware. Setting a static IP on the device for a wifi connection causes a failure to connect. Would appreciate if someone else could verify but there are threads on other forums about this as well. I've typically set a static IP on my device to improve UMA performance for transitions between multiple APs. Worked fine on 4.6.x, definitely does not work on 5.0. :(

Other than that, 5.0 is a huge improvement over the 4.x series.

this seems to add hebrew even for the 5.0 OS on the 8900 as well

yeah, i have noticed this as well. static IP's cause all sorts of problems. sometimes the phone will connect to the AP, but data wont flow. other times, there is no connection at all :(

set it back to DHCP, and all is fixed in seconds...

its def a bug, but not a deal breaker (do you *really* need dhcp!? )

Upgraded to 5.0 and it went OK. Usual resign ins on some apps. However browser seems very slow compared to 4.6. I thought I read something on this before I did the upgrade. Now it is late and I am tired and can't find it. On CBW and have default browser set to Internet Browser. No youtube on this browser either comes up with an error and won't play. Any thoughts?

Ken

I installed Bolt again and have better luck with speed and youtube. Will try it for awhile. Many too soon, but nothing to write home about on 5.0 as far as I am concerned.

Both Browsers seem to be getting better. My Memo entries seemed a little wierd at first. When opening a list of grocery items it was missing some and listed options like "Not Started". That has gone away and Memo is now identical to 4.6 and all my items are there. Like the iphone looking scroll wheel when changing calendar appts to another day/time. One other nice thing is on my Media Card when I display my converted movies. The titles are wider than the screen since I added the conversion method to the title. Use to have to open the properties to see the conversion method, but now when highlighted the line auto scrolls to the left like a ticker showing the whole line.

Liking it so far and no real problems on install.
