Agreed.

I don't know how anyone who uses IM to any degree could possibly use a program that doesn't alert you when new IMs are received.

I don't want to knock the program at all either but I had high hopes for this application. Everyone speaks so highly of it. I guess I was just under the wrong assumption that it was a fully developed application.

But no notifications? How do you use it then? I mean someone IMs you for a chat and you don't know about it until the next time you happen to remove your Blackberry from the hoslter?

I'll guess I'll wait and try it again when the notification issues are worked out.

Point well taken. I honestly had not noticed that it was vibrating, I just happened to be messing with my BB every time I have received an IM today.

That will be very problematic...when I get an IM from a client I need to know I am getting an IM right then and there, not when I think about looking at my BB.

***SIGH***

Unless this is a problem that is fixed fairly soon I guess I will be shelling out the cash for IM+ or something.

I have it set that way too, but it just doesn't do it when the program is not running. I have tried this on a 7100t, 7290, 8700c.

I am currently testing out Yak-on, and so far I like it. After the 15 days are up, if my battery life isn't terrible at the end of each day, I will most likely be purchasing it.

Ok now I am confused ?? How can a program thats not running alert you to IM's ?? that does not make sense if the program is running then it works fine but if its not running why would it tell you that you have IM's??

Perhaps he means if the program is in the background (still running) the alerts don't come in.

Precisely. I leave the app running, but in the background and I get no alerts. No vibe, no nothing.

My settings are the same as yous Slammed, as I think everyone's are as those are the default settings.

Unhappy Can't log in again!!!

I'm back to not being able to log on. Invalid connection string once again. I only got this blackberry for the ramble im because I participate in a christian chatroom through aol. I don't know any other im client for blackberry that gives you access to aol chatrooms. I can't complain but so much because it's free but it gets frustrating at times.

Default Invalid Connection String: could not open tunnel - failed

I opened Ramble IM and logged in. I hit submit and get this:
Invalid Connection String: could not open tunnel - failed

What's wrong?

Try disabling your firewall...

It usually logs in only on the 2nd attempt when I use it. I get that message, click ok, then try again and it works.

I don't get notifications either. I asked about it a long time ago on this thread and Rambler ignored it. I came back to see if there was an update.

Firewall settings are in your BB options.

Whenever I signed onto Ramble, & then off, I would stay logged in. I'd be logged in for days, but according to my BB, I was logged out... Meanwhile missing a ton of messages.

So... today I updated the program, & made sure I replaced the previous version. After I had done that, Ramble IM had disappeared completely from my Applications tab, even after reboot. So, I tried to d/l it again. Then, there was 2 Ramble IMs showing up in my Apps tab. So, I went to Options, Applications, & deleted Ramble. This did delete one of them, but the other remains. I can't delete it, & the prog doesn't work anyway.

WTF do I do? :(
