So I went to my local Verizon store to find out why my blackberry curve 8330 is running very sluggish. I was told that I wasn't closing programs properly. Here is what I was told to do in order for my blackberry to pick up the speed. On the main screen I was told to hit the menu button and then hit the menu button again, next, I have to hit switch applications and close out programs that are still running. I did all this and still my blackberry is running like a turtle. Anyone like to comment on Verizon's advise, and has anyone else had a Blackberry that ran in reverse, and what did you do to put it in top gear? Thank you.

Closing applications that are not in use will help with slowness/hourglass issues. You were informed of the right thing to do.

What is your file free (Options > Status)? You have an 8330, so your memory should be fairly high, however if you install a lot of themes and apps, it could be low. Better safe than sorry.

A pretty sure way to speed things up is by pulling the battery out of the device for 30 seconds.

Yep, less apps running in the background make for a happier device.

Fact.

if you have a memory card that should also help since itll free up memory that would otherwise be in use for pictures, videos, etc

And get rid of Facebook if you have it installed.

That should help but if it hasn't then the issue is elsewhere. A battery pull has already been suggested and I'd second it.

Maybe I missed the part about how to actually close the apps, but after you scroll over to the applications, click icon, hit the menu key again and scroll to Close. Of course, as was said already, if you pull the battery that will close everything for you.
