Did anyone else get a Yellowpages.com Mobile web shortcut pushed down today? It must be a new At&t thing because I checked my service books and there it was. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

Yeah I got that too! I was wondering about that. Although I did use a forwarding service for the first time today so I thought maybe that was part of the package. Glad to know it was a service book.

Just hide it

Not part of any thing you did, Orion... it's more crap-ware from your friends at AT&T. I hid the icon then called AT&T to complain about all of the crap they push out that I will never use... even if I was interested (I am not), I would never use stuff shoved at me in that way.

Don't I already pay for service on AT&T? (The answer is YES, approaching $250/month on my 4-line family plan with text messaging and data plans...) why must they do that?

When my contract is up, I am out of there... and I told them so.

Default Any body get yellowpages.com

Pushed to their phone from RIM? My phone had a "moment" last night, and I did a battery reboot.....when it came back, I found an icon for yellowpages.com
on it......and I DIDN'T download it, because I was driving at the time this happened......

Did this happen to anyone else?

I have a question for customers of other providers (non AT&T)...

Does your provider shove all of these crapware service books at your phone? If so, how many service book-related crapware icons to you have / have to hide on your blackberries?

With this new yellowpages.com mobile trash I have hidden 13 icons for things like music id, shope tunes/themes/graphics/etc etc etc... AT&T says there's no way to opt out, but I argue that they are choosing which service books to shove at their paying customers. I can opt out of solicitation text messages, but there is no option to opt out of the bb service book crap.

How do other providers handle this? How many items? Can you opt out?

Ok, so I can just hide it--I'm sure that SOMEONE will come up with a way to get rid of it eventually--I mean, there used to be no way to get rid of the preloaded stuff too.....I'm not as upset about it as some here seem to be, this is the first time I've gotten something "pushed" to me....and it's free, so no biggie.

Sprint pushes a bunch of bloatware. When I got my Curve I had icons for:

Facebook (installed it)
Sprint TV (hid it)
Sprint Music Store (hid it)
Pocket Express (hid it)
Google Talk (hid it)
Yahoo Messenger & AOL IM (I used JiveTalk, so hid both)
Sprint Software Store (hid it)

I also hid Compose, Help (wait, I uninstalled that), Saved Messages, Email Settings (I use the BIS website), and Setup Wizard.

And I'm told there is no way to opt out.

I had a friggin canary when they started pushing the TeleNav installer icon to all of our corporate devices. THANKS FOR THAT! I had people calling me left and right asking what it was and how to use it and how much did it cost. Pissed me off royally.

Thank you......Is it possible that I got this because I enabled the browser push a couple of days ago?....prior to that, I've never gotten anything "pushed" to me.

And the worst part is when you go to change your theme, all the pushed icons become unhidden again...I even created a folder and moved them in there and made that new folder hidden. Sometimes that doesn't even work.

Oh, and thank you JS for merging the topics.

Ah yes, this really ticks me off. Seems RIM could make a Screen/Keyboard option for 'lock icons' or something.

Didn't realize this thread was here before I started one. Yea I am pissed that they did this and it isn't free since data charges apply.
Let them push the ability to use BB Maps or Yahoo Messenger with out having us go thru the hassle of making it work.
I am out of Att also and taking my family and friends with me...

Wirelessly posted (8310 Curve)

I do see the service book. What happens if I delete the yellow page browser service book?
Will it remove the icon so I don't have to hide it?

I believe it will remove it for a short time, but eventually that service book will come back.
