Thank you for the nice help and input. I could at least use Japanese on my new Torch.
However, I do blame RIM for their lack of native support of any language and the process for being able to use them. Clearly a non technical person CAN NOT update language. This is the great difference between RIM and Apple. At Apple they produce ONE device for EVERYBODY while at RIM they address MANY markets with MANY devices (and get lost in managing them). I am very disappointed by RIM.
