Default Email reconciliation

Please Login to Remove!

Evening all.

Got a BES 4.0 and load of users on 7290's and 7230's with OS4 (Exchange) using over air sync for all and setup with enterprise activation (no desktop manager installed anywhere).

Just noticed today we have alot of support calls in about Email reconciliation. Deleting a mail on the BB's and it deletes on the handheld and the desktop outlook clients fine. However, deleting on Outlook doesn't remove it from the PDA's.

Should it? I thought it did when we had 3.6 installed. Any ideas?

Ta

With GW BES 4.0, it doesn't occur automatically. Instead, as with updating calendar, tasks, memo's, etc... it checks for those I think every 20 minutes. Email delay, however, is only about 10-20 seconds. I'm not sure it's the same for exchange, but take notice of it and see if you wait up to half an hour or an hour if the changes are reflected then.

I'll let you know how it works. I've just changed a note and deleted a few emails in outlook...They haven't gone/changed on the BB yet. Will time them and see what happens

There was a delay on 3.6 as well. Just make sure that if they delete from Outlook that they don't immediately empty their Deleted Items (permanent delete). That way, the BES/BB will be able to query between the two and know which emails need to be on the handheld and which need to be removed.

Just ran some tests. Syncing eachway on taks, notes, calendar and cotnacts is fine.

Email.

Marking read on Outlook and Handheld replicated to the other okay
Delete on handheld and it deletes it on Outlook
Delete it on outlook and it DOESN'T delete on the blackberry.
Have tried keeping it in deleted items, and removing them. Nothing, been waiting an hour for one to go and it's still here.

Any ideas?

There are some reconciliation options on GW BES that might be in exchange. One of them for email asks true/false for reconciliation. The other asks who wins in the event of a conflict, sever or handheld. I would make sure it's set on server rather than handheld

Just had a look in the logs and there are some strange entries...

EventID 20000
[email address]ess, PIN:201D637C, ID:18}RequestHandler::DoITPolicyDeviceSentProcessi ng - Unable to find matching entry id for SRPTag=199 and GMEId=0

and

EventID 20557
{myname@email.address} XML response dropped. No config info has been received yet.

Might be related...I'm going to search to see if it says anything about them on Blackberry's mebsite

Merlin, go to Messages on your handheld then to Options then to Email Reconciliation. Make sure it has Mailbox & Handheld (I think).

The above is correct. Once you have done that hardreset the BlackBerry as well. Then send yourself two emails and delete one in your mail client and the second on your BlackBerry. Then go to Messages on your BlackBerry and then Options and choose reconcile now. You should see both messages disappear. Keep in mind that automatic reconciliation, when not using the Reconcile Now, can take a VERY long time.

I ran a similiar test this morning. I noticed if you do a hard delete (shift-delete) the message will never be removed from the Blackberry. I guess that ties into not deleting the deleted items either when doing a soft delete. I guess I learned something new today.

I'm having this issue as well recently. I've switched it to delete from mailbox & handheld and am now testing the functionality.

We have a 7290 BB with Exchange server and BES. When we delete a message or move one into the Inbox in Outlook, even right after message reconciliation the changes do not reflect on the handheld. Also when this user replies to messages overnight and deletes messages via the handheld, the changes are not reflected in Outlook.

Since both the handheld and Outlook communicate with the Exchange server, why do we even need to reconcile/sync messages anyway? I would expect Outlook to work the way it always has, when a message comes into the inbox on the server, the change is reflected on the user’s Outlook Inbox; and when a new message comes into the inbox on the server the new message is pushed to the BB handheld. When a message changes (read/unread status, deletion, etc.) those changes are stored on the Exchange server, and therefore should instantly (or the next time the handheld/Outlook client is communicated to from the server) be made in both places.

I am still learning how the BlackBerrys work so please correct me where I may be wrong. Thank you.

Thumbs up Found a solution (worked for me)

I have the 7250 with BES 4.0.1 and was having the same issues with mail not being deleted from Exchange.

I found that if you do the following it will sync:

Open mail icon
select message (any one)
Scroll down to Options and select
Select Email Reconciliation
Select the Delete on field
Select Change Option
Change it to Mailbox & Handheld

Give it a try.

I've had a couple reports of instances where reconcile now is no longer listed in the menu when you bring it up under messages. Why would it dissappear? Anyone have an idea?

We are using GW BES and find that reconcile is not consistent. Sometimes the mail is deleted off the handheld within half an hour (supports the 20 minutes mentioned above) while at other time the mail is still on the handheld 3 days after deleting it in GroupWise and has to be manually deleted from the handheld. SP1 is out and I am hoping it will help.

Default Email Reconciliation Issues

I've read the posts on the issues people have been having.

I am administering a 4.0.1 BES and have several users (including myself) who have WER enabled, under Options on the handheld have Delete on Handheld and Mailbox, but when they try to delete on Mailbox, it does not delete from Handheld. Even after they wait a long time.

I have tried the posted fixes but to no avail. Any one out there got one yet?

Thanks
