BB Messenger Download problems
Please Login to Remove!
Got an 8310 an ex-employee it did not have BB messenger. Looked in my apploader and it was not there. Tried to download it from PC and says that I have to do it from my mobile device. Tried to download it to my device using the device browser and it said that I didn't have the system requirements. I have Desktop manager 4.6 on PC and OS 4.5 on device. What am I missing here?? Please help.. Do I need to reinstall the 4.5 OS or should I be able to go out there and download it somewhere?

Welcome to the forums.
You will need to have the OS for your device installed on your PC to install BBM. Follow the steps here to install the OS and BBM.

So, I have to reinstall the entire OS in able to get messenger? I assume messenger comes with the OS?

It does, unless your friend removed it, or the company removed it.
You don't have to reinstall the entire OS. You need the same version OS your device is running installed on your PC. What OS are you running (Options > About)?

That is a pretty old OS when it comes to 4.5. I just did a search for it and here is what you need.

Once downloaded, install the file by double clicking. Once installed, remove the vendor.xml file, instructions are included in the link.

So,, I spoke wrong. I am actually installing the 4.5.0.174 which is at the top of the 8300 Gen Discussion page. Is that ok,, or do I need to install the specific one you said?

You can install that one, as long as it's for the 8310.
It will just upgrade your OS in the process. You will be able to get BBM back that way as well.
