Default 7290 Signal Loss

Please Login to Remove!

I was wondering if anyone had encountered signal strength issues with the 7290. I've had this phone for the better part of a year but for the last few weeks the signal has been dropping away to nothing leaving me with insufficient signal even for SOS calls. It then sometimes returns and vanishes again with increasing rapidity, sometimes calms down for a few days etc. My provider T-Mobile claim my area has good signal strength and having tried another phone it would appear my 7290 is at fault. Is this a common issue.

Software version is v4.0.0.215 on T-Mobile UK if that is any help.

Thanks

Adi

Dont know here your from but the 7290 is a good stable BB. I would say TmO is not being upfront with you. Ask around and see if you can find out if anybody else has issues with the service. Remember Data coverage may be different from phone service. Reguardless what a carrier states, they all lie.

I know what you are saying, this Blackberry has been rock solid since I got it up until recently. Unfortunately what is making me think it is the phone is I have moved my SIM to another phone (a Nokia) and the coverage is flawless.

I was wondering if it was possible that something to do with the aerial inside has come loose and needs reseating?

The antenna is not something that can become loose. It is mounted near the top on some models and glued into the board.

alas its not looking promising, the signal is more or less nonexistent all the time yet fine on the Nokia, shame cos otherwise the phone is in great condition.

Default Weird 7290 behaviour

Hi,
I've been using a BB7290 with Vodafone Italia for over a year.
Lately I've been having signal strength problems (no network coverage) i Italy (everywhere, main cities included) but I am working smoothly in Israel now (Cellcom) and in Portugal two weeks ago (Vodafone PT).
Does anyone have a clue? Could it be connected to my OS version (3.8.0.122) ?
Happy new year to everybody.
F.

I picked up another 7290 cheap and swapped over the card it seems to be fine now.

Had the same problem. Bought an unlocked 8700c and my issue has been resolved.
