Default GPRS problems

Please Login to Remove!

Apologies if this is the wrong forum...

I've noticed that if I lose connection completely for an extended period of time that when I am able to re-establish a connection that occassionally I can only reconnect with GSM in an area that I know I typically get a strong GPRS signal.

I've tried turning the BB off and back on and also turning off just the wireless connection and turning it back on while the device stays on. Neither of these things have worked to re-establish GPRS rather than GSM.

Whether it's coincidence or not, each time this problem has occurred the only solution appears to be removing the battery and SIM.

Before we role out 200-300 BB's I'd really like to find out why this occurs, if it is preventable, and if not then what the best solution is to re-establish GPRS.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Ours do the same thing and I haven't figured it out. Instead I just made a tiny background app that automatically resets the thing 2x a day, 3am and 3pm. That way it'll reset right when people are leaving work, and right before most of them wake up to go to work. Seems to work well...

Default hmmm

I don't know that we would want to reset the devices at scheduled times as this seems to occur after we go into our 'tunnel' area and then come back above ground.

Also, doesn't the potential exist to interrupt someone using the device during the 3pm reset?

I do appreciate the response, but I don't know that we can get away with the same procedure.

It does, but our users know it will happen and when every day
