Default Wi-Fi and GPS Issues on Unlocked Bold

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought an unlocked Bold from StarHub Singapore. Carrier is Maxis Malaysia and I am currently in US, roaming on AT&T.

BIS, web browsing, voice are on AT&T network are fine. No issues.

My friend and I have been trying in the last 4 hours to get my WiFi to work but not successful. We upgraded to .147, wiped handheld and resent service books and pulled battery but still not successful.

My Bold can find my router and can connect but there is no "green" check next to WiFi in "Manage Connections" although my Bold shows the WiFi Profile name next to AT&T.

There is nothing wrong with my wireless router as my friend's 8320 can connect to the router.

When I do a "Refresh GPS", it can't seem to locate my current location.

Any help would be appreciated.

It may be the bold is incompatible with the router - a number of people are experincing the same problem, and other than trying to update the firmware of the router there doesn't appear to be a lot that can be done.

Refreshing GPS won't have any effect in the wifi, as its a different technology.

I would suggest disabling (briefly) all of the wireless security and wireless access control. Then give wifi on your phone a try. If this works, slowly add back your security settings, testing connectivity after each is enabled.

If you cannot connect when all security features are disabled, then you are faced with a router/phone incompatibility. The net step would be to try the phone on other routers (friends, family, office etc.).
