Maybe TMO is not cooperating cuz they need more time to start right off with a 3G 8900??

Or.. This was simply a rumor and it was never planned for this year!
Just a thought.

The Javelin is not 3G. Some cooperation, eh?

few days ago, tmo-germany cancelled the 8900-os-software-link from the tmo-download-site.

TmoNews shows q1 2009
I hope they are wrong, but they usually have good info.
I seem to remember T Mobile smacking them down a little while ago because their info was TOO GOOD.

We are pretty good at finding leaked pics of TMO posters/flyers/promo materials close to release dates in the past. Since none of these things have been seen yet, I am very reluctant to get my hopes up for black friday as the release date (hope I'm wrong....)

Doesn't that seem a little, I dunno, stupid to release something on black friday? People are lining up to get things for 70% off, not to spend full price and you know T-Mo isn't going to make such a terrible business choice as giving it black friday pricing. The biggest volume of sales is going to be on release day due to all of the fanboys that must be first to have the new gadget. T-Mo isn't going to kill that sale by either competing with black friday or chopping prices. If I'm wrong, I'll eat my shorts.

I think it sold in Germany for like 60 or 70 USD, I could be wrong though...

Thumbs down CONFIRMED -- Black Friday Release NOT Happening. :-(

Well, folks, I have now confirmed that the Black Friday release is definitely NOT happening!

A friend and former co-worker of mine currently works for T-Mobile at one of their corporate-owned stores in the Baltimore, MD area. He has been in the cell phone industry for about 15 years and he's real good about letting me know the latest info on new phone releases, per his internal company emails.

I just talked to him today and currently, T-Mobile's sales staff are being told via company communications to expect a release of the BlackBerry 8900 in FIRST QUARTER 2009, which means it could be released anywhere from as early as January 1st, to as late as March 31st, 2009.

This really sucks. I've been eligible for an upgrade for just about a year, and I've been patiently waiting for the Bold to hit T-Mo. Once it was confirmed that it could take another year for that to happen (if it ever happens at all, which it may not), I decided to go for the 8900... which could now be another 4 months in getting to me!

Rats, I was hoping for this year as well. Did you consider an unlocked Bold (like I now am)? I'd rather have the one from Rogers that lets you turn 3g off and on depending on where you are.

Definitely not Black Friday or relatively soon. Not listed in upcoming launches at all. Trust me, it's a list I look at everyday being in TC for TMO

As has been stated many times before, an unlocked Bold is USELESS for T-Mobile users, as the 3G is NOT compatible with the frequencies used on T-Mobile's 3G network.

It'd be useless if it is an AT&T Bold. Rogers or T Mobile Germany Bolds have the option to use 2G only and will therefore work.

Thanks for that clarification, but you're still missing my point: I would ONLY buy a Bold if I could use it on T-Mobile's 3G network to get 3G data. I HAVE an EDGE (2G) BlackBerry NOW. If I want a new EDGE , those are readily available in the form of the 8320 Curve and the upcoming 8900 Curve... which has a better camera than the 8320, hence my interest in the release date.

But a Bold without the ability to use its 3G data speed is POINTLESS to me. I'm NOT going to pay that much money for a Bold, only to have it be crippled. I use my as a tethered modem. I want a Bold that works on T-Mobile's 3G network so I can take advantage of that network's higher speed when I'm using the as a modem. Using a Bold as an EDGE modem makes no sense to me, no sense at all.
