BlackBerry Handheld Software
This will install to any carrier's 9700 by following the instructions below:

Applications: 6.0.0.668
File name: 9700_6.0.0.668.ex e
File size: 174MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9700:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Not able to install to the Slovak T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700. It says the usual: "he BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer". I did delete the vendor.xml file and installed BB DesktopSoftware from na.blackberry.com .

If I try to open the specific vendor site = BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites, unfortunately it gives me this software version "6.0.0.570" - so it's not the most recent one.

Any clue how to manage to update it?

Hello from Italy.
My provider is Vodafone IT. I downloaded october 2nd from a wildfire file server ( size reported is 174.26MB) and performed a flawless installation using Blackberry Desktop Manager 6.1.
First impressions follows.
A) Something fixed in the Bluetooth Management. I have a Zephyr Hearth Rate Monitor which never ever worked with the blackberry/Endomondo. Since monday it connects in a second and works without any hitch for hours. No upgrade/modification to the App.
B) Something definitely new in the GPS Management. The GPS finds the current position in less tha ten seconds outdoor. It sometimes finds the position in places at home where it always has been loking forever.
C) With same applications installed, the final figure of memeory available jumed from 10 to 29 megabytes.
D) The device , that used previous version 6.0.0.576(600 LEAKED , see my other post) is definitely stable without memory jams or long time running garbage collection. During the previous month it was usual to perform a battery pull at least every two, maximum three days: in the last seven days not anymore necessary.
I am currently uploading the image file with multiupload.com service, I'll keep everyone advised on download locations.

I have just added my device to the brand new service:

Blackberry Management Center.

It's a systema administrator dream come true: remote backup, remote retry , remote blank a listed device.

By the way, such service report my OS as:

"Versione sistema operativo dispositivo BlackBerry® 6.0.2.156"

( obviously in Italian, our home language)

So we know how it is identified by RIM 6.0.0.668==6.0.2.156

what are steps for os5 update at 8900 and os6 at 9700 as i try hard (despite of i am since last 6 years expert user of blackberyy till 4.6 os but, i am unable to update at my both phones even no errors found all gone perfect but, no updation made at my both phones.
i found online update and that latest version installed but, recommended is available
i download the required os
delete vendor.html file
run aploader file
after that all done but, when shows installed app there just 3rd parties like messgr or other thing now selection showing for update or language or other thing.
can anybody hlep what's wrong i am doing.
