Default Hi all

Please Login to Remove!

I got my first Blackberry, an 8700g T-Mobile, today!

I am very excited but I don't know how to charge the battery! May I do it from an USB port of a Mac?

Who can help me? Thx!

The USB cable charges your device, and welcome!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Actually, it will not charge from the mac unless you install pocketmac.

I am trying from a PC but desktop manager does not see the BlackBerry, it's strange because all seems OK... do you think that I should charge the battery without the PC, before insering it in the USB port?

The notification LED becomes red for a few seconds, then nothing seems to happen.

I don't have the 8700 but I believe it's the same for all of the Blackberries. When you plug it in, it should show a lighting bolt next to your battery indicator.

Thanks! Sholud the BB display turn on automatically as soon as the battery is charged? It's strange, because it's been in charging for more than a few hours but nothing seems to happen. If i connect it to the power source without the battery inside, i can see the image of "mising battery" on the display, but if the battery is in, I can't see anything. Kinda strange. Any guess, suggestions on what to do? May the battery be defective, or it this a very rare occurrence?

go to options on your blackberry, then select STATUS- you will see battery and what % your battery is charged. Have you gone into Desktop Manager and set up your preferences? If not you should so it knows where to grab your contact, calander, notes, etc. data. As I was writing the last sentence it dawnwd on me no one has asked if you are using BIS or BES? If you don't know then the answer probably is BIS.

You mentioned it is a Tmobile device. I would first call their customer service first. This would be the first step to getting it replaced. If the screen doesn't come on I would have to say it sounds like a bad unit.

I was wondering if it wouldn't be just the battery, which doesn't work, or is defective. Because the display turns on, when there is no battery in, to let me know that "there is no battery in". A dead or defective display wouldn't do that... what do you think?

It does not sound like it is the display but actually the battery or the unit itself. It sounds like you are hesitant to contact tmobile. Did you not buy the unit throgh tmobile. If the device doesn't work take it back to where you bought it. You should not be having the problems you mention.

You are supposed to plug it into the wall and it charges. If not, then I would say you are having trouble with the battery. You should head directly back to T-Mobile. Did you purchase it from them? Or did you get it off of E-Bay or something?

I bought it via ebay and from USA (I am in Europe.) I will buy a new battery and hope that the problem was with it. Otherwise, I am "burned." Thanks for the support though, it has been much appreciated. I am sorry but there are situations in which there is really not much to do.

I checked the battery with a friend's tester and he said that this battery is only 2 volts, although there is written 3,7 volts on same battery. Do you think that this may be the problem, and that the BB cannot charge & turn on because of that? Should I try with a different battery or give it up? Thx.

It wouldn't hurt. Just make sure you try a battery from a similar device.
