these may be some nubie questions, but i've been looking around the forum and searching topics, and maybe i'm just not understanding, so here goes. i have a 7230 that i bought off ebay, that seems to have a stripped down version of the os. i'm not able to do a lot of things the manual says i should be able to do. (nothing with pictures/wallpaper/screensavers, no html or javascript browsing, etc.) in about, my platform is: 1.6.0.49. in applications i'm running 3.7. i went to t-mobile's site mentioned in the "blackberryOS 4.x download FAQ" to download the 4.0 update, but, it's saying i need a firmware update first.

am i doing the right things at this point? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get 4.0 from T-mo site and install it.. make sure you take backup before you lose everything. You do not need firmware upgrade//

Sounds like you might also have an it policy on it.. Look in options/security/what have you and see if it says something about an it policy.

i did what jodinger said and upgraded to 4.0. everything is much better now. however, i checked the it policy like tomryan said and it said default, last updated/timestamp may 6, 2004 8:10pm. what does this mean? clearing it will erase everything again. is this necessary? thanks in advance, again, for any advise.
