Loading now (instead of doing my taxes).

What a GREAT procrastination excuse!

You think Uncle Sam will buy it?

Make sure to uninstall Blackberry Internal Apps before installing! Ug!

Anyhow, Tour seems to boot about 2x as fast with this OS.

But it seems to have screwed up my AppWorld records. Can't delete archived apps. PITA. More once I mess with it. Got a good feeling about this release!

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

Any updates to share? I wrote that I was curious how the OS addressed any lag problems and the profiles.

I loaded it this morning, and all seems fine - except for profiles. I always set my 'normal' profile so the phone rings, but everything else vibrates. That much is working. If I put on 'vibrate only' to kill the phone ringtone, it kills all the vibration too - the only notification I get is the LED. I've set the profile up the same way a bundle of times over the past few weeks, so am pretty sure I don't have anything out of whack there. The only way I've found around it is to set the 'normal' profile so even the ringtone for the phone is silent. Then everything vibrates. When I leave work, I re-enable the ring tone. Sort of a pain. OS seems a little snappier, and seems to suck a little less battery, but haven't had it on long enough yet to get a real solid impression.

So far, seems MAYBE snappier?

The trackball issue is NOT fixed by this release (because it's actually a component issue, not a software issue - what a silly rumor).

The AppWorld archive delete problem was only because of mass storage being on and having the USB cable connected. AppWorld MyWorld has forgotten which apps I have installed, which is sorta a PITA.

Otherwise, my Tour seems to be happy with .42. Don't notice any glaring differences except some of the lag is gone - but that could be because the OS install is fresh?

Anyone have a comment about call quality, especially how you sound to others?

Yeah, I wouldn't expect much improvement from such a small version bump.

So far my take is no glaring improvement except for boot time (which is still unacceptable), and no real problems (actually zero experienced except AppWorld records are lost).

I suspect they just squashed some esoteric bugs. Maybe some code refinements for speed/battery life?

If you're happy with your Tour, no need to rush into this upgrade, but at the same time, no harm either.

My $0.02.

I'm seeing a definite improvement with .42 in signal strength.

Now that you mention it, it seems I am getting the same! Thanks for pointing that out!

Wow - just walked around the house. I would call this a SIGNIFICANT improvement in signal.

I take back the "take it or leave it" comment about this upgrade.

This upgrade is a must!

To me this is the number 1 issue. I think I will take the plunge

Default New Software?

I have a couple of questions for those of you who have tried this software out.

I am new to the Blackberry so PLEASE excuse my ignorance.

Does this software fix these issues?

1. SMS messages do not show up under Messages like all emails, yahoo, facebook, missed calls, etc. I have to dig under my menus to find SMS. Is this something that can be fixed with the factory (or this string) of software?

2. It's nice to know that Blackberry considers the currency symbol such an important character that they replaced (what should have been) the DOT on the keypad. Since you can choose between one of four characters to be your "currency" symbol, it would be nice to be able to actually choose any symbol of our choosing (such as the DOT) since the currency symbols are still accessible from the SYM button. Does anyone know if this can be achieved with the factory (or this string) of software?

Thanks for your knowledge!

I am now using .42. I am not sure if I am realizing any benefits. Especially as it relates to data connection
