I have no idea what's new, but OS 1.0.1.1710 is available OTA. So, download and enjoy! And if you find anything new, please post what you find.

From what I can gather from other websites, GPS seems to be tweaked and is working better in both Bing Maps and Poynt. I'm also hearing that Bridge apps are working a bit better now... more responsive.

Beyond that, no idea what else might have changed.

I doubt that Bridge Browser is going to be much faster - as that connection rely's on the Berry's APN or BIS data connection speeds with the provider and renders it via Bluetooth to the PlayBook.

I'm more concerned how much overhead the BT Security channel is over the PlayBook/BlackBerry's BT2.1+EDR which is good for 3Mbps (with overhead included for data link); yet the connection for mostly text in emails seems a LOT lower than that.

Huh? Who said anything about the Bridge Browser or internet speed? My understanding is that all of the Bridge apps are more responsive, not that browsing the internet with Bridge Browser is faster.

Looks like 1.0.1.1746 is making the OTA rounds, although my PlayBook can't find it just yet. Could we get two updates in one day?

To be fair, 1710 has been available for a few days.

I would expect to see updates every three to five days.

Uh oh....Applied update and at the end screen popup came up saying Restarting Playbook.

Went dark. Now nothing working. Won't start, plugged in power cord, nothing. Connect to PC and DM, nothing.

Now what? Any thoughts?

I went dark for about 5 seconds, red light, then power on.
This tablet is great!

UPDATE***Left plugged in all night and tried again this morning...Nothing. Went to Staples, but of course they didn't have any PlayBooks left. He also said they never got teh 32gb or 64gb models, only 16gb. Could order one, but then he tried selling me on a Xoom. Said it several times and certainly displayed the opinion he didn't like the BlackBerry product. Maybe they get a bigger commission or a spiff to sell the Xoom, which would be $100 more too. Then he shifted gears to sell me a full Accidental Damage Warranty for only $239. He even said I would be buying a second one for $239. I reminded him the warranty would be better if I had a working unit. Said I would take the unit home and call RIM.

Got home and tried a few things. Got the screen to wake up and it was stuck on the Restarting PlayBook screen after the update from the previous night. Fiddled some more and all of a sudden it restarted and is fully functional again.

Hmmmmm.

Anyone else have a similar issue? I am also curious if anyone purchased a warranty, Regular at $149 or complete at $239?. Those are Staples prices of course.
