Exclamation Switching Carriers "Military"

Please Login to Remove!

I made that title for a reason. I'm in the Air Force National Guard. And if you do not live under a rock and have a television you will notice that ppl are being sent to Afghanistan.

The ppl I work for are planning a trip in the "near" future. So....I thought the Tour would be ideal for me.
I have sprint, i spoke to the sales rep at a local store and he said i'd just go and get a sim when i got there.
I do know how to use google; but would like a hand. Can someone help me find a carrier in that area so i can see what kind of price i'd be paying while there.
I have a friend thats there with his Iphone. He said he only brought it for all the data he has on it. It costs 3.99/min to call on it.

If anyone can provide some links i'd appreciate it. If it looks like heiroglyphics. Maybe you can use google or bebelfish to convert the web page; or there may even be an American Flag or a UK flag on the site to convert the text.

How long will you be there is it just worth having the Sprint service over there since it's a world phone.

Hmm. I was under the impression that Sprint has NO service there.

Alright, I searched on sprint.com

Voice Pricing: $3.99/minute
Data Pricing: $0.016/KB

Do you mean to tell me that if i called my wife in KY that id pay about 20 bucks for just under 5 minutes?
If that's the case then that would be my reason for using a different carrier.

Wirelessly posted (overwhelmingly stressed)

Any US carrier will be pricey in that region.
As far as carrier there might want to contact fellow service members there.

Just get a phone card like everyone else and use the call center or MWR. And keep troop movements to your self.

Get the Sprint International Data plan for data, and swap a SIM in and out for calls. However, international calls even with a local SIM aare likely to be very expensive. That's where the phone card comes into play.
