Default How to Get the BB Torch configured with a VPN (MS-CHAPv2)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have purchased the BB Torch 9860 and am very happy with it! I am trying to get our company's VPN configured so I can receive mails. Somehow are the information I have from our admin are either not enough or I can't figure out how to do this.

The admin provided me with the following information:
Hostname: ***
VPN-Typ: automatisch
Protokoll: Microsoft CHAP, Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)
AuthIdent: ***
AuthSecret: ***

The BB does not have such VPN type as "automatic" nor a protocol like "MS-CHAP v2"
Here are a few screenshots from the Torch:

I would be very greatful if someone from the community could help me out here.

Thanks a lot!

VPN? does your company have a BES server? If it does then it will be a secure connection into the company network. You or the IT guy can check with Blackberry for info on setup for the BB. My thought is you do not have a BES server and they gave you either old info or have no clue that protocol was around for NT and windows 2000 and was designed for PC's.

This may help

MS-CHAP v2

Thanks for your reply tsac!

The link you have sent me explains how the protocol works. But I can't find a solution through that.
You guessed write..the company does not provide BES. About how high are the costs to install a BES for one single user? I guess, not worth it. What options do I have now??

I am in the same position. Our company is moving away from BES support. Your only option for receiving email is BIS. Unfortunately, it is not nearly as efficient. You also won't have corporate directory lookup and other features of BES.

Ok, I've found out that the BES express is for free and takes the admin two hours work to install and configure. BUT I am not sure, I think an exchange server is needed for a BES.

I guess for BIS, direct mail access though the internet is neccessary and it does not work with a MS VPN.

Please correct me if Im wrong

Some moderator there has had a technical problem while moving the thread.
He told me they will try to restore it....
