Do you have a media card inserted?

User tools is desktop tools.
You need to re-run the installer and make sure its checked to install media manager.

I have the same problem. I downloaded the latest DTop manager from BB. I am able to connect and see data on the phone via "my computer" But when I launch DTM. It has a pop up that says, "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer."

No PIN is shown in the bottom left of the screen.

Troubleshooting I have tried:
Different cable
Different USB port
Removed the media card
Did a battery pull

I have a 8310
AT&T service.
