Update... the RIM rep is confused. She is asking what happens when I launch the Bridge on my phone. I have explain again that I can't even install it as it is being blocked by AT&T. I think she finally understands the issue, and I'm on hold again.

OS6 devices need to go to http://bit.ly/BlackberryBridge for a Direct OTA Bridge download.

Hey, that's great for OS6 devices. I wonder what happens to us with OS5 devices? I think I know the answer to that.

*sigh*

Well, that's that. RIM support told me that AT&T doesn't support the BlackBerry Bridge (we know that already) and there is no time frame for that to change. In other words, sorry, but you can't use the PlayBook as it was designed.

Looks like my AT&T service will be coming to an end, and my PlayBook, which hasn't even arrived yet, will be returned. What an unbelievable joke this has turned out to be. Furious doesn't even begin to describe how I feel right now.

So, to connect the dots, will AT&T customers be able to download the bridge app, just not through app world? And if they are able, will it then work, or not? I'm curious to hear the answers.

My bet is once on the BlackBerry, it will work. Just AT&T isn't going to give it to you.

The first link opens AppWorld and says the app isn't supported. The second one does nothing at all for me.

I'm using a Torch on AT&T.

I downloaded the .jad file from the first link and tried to install it via Desktop Manager. No dice either.

I have a torch on AT&T and the first link worked for me. I just entered it into the browser:
http://bit.ly/BlackberryBridge

I am still waiting on my Playbook to arrive to test this out.

Bridge for OS6: http://bit.ly/BlackberryBridge
Bridge for OS5: http://bit.ly/BlackBerryBridgeOS5

I can't verify if these are safe to install. The links came from CrackBerry, here: http://crackberry.com/att-blackberry-bridge-download

I have installed the OS5 version of Bridge from the links I provided. So far, nothing has caught fire, so that's at least a good thing. Now to get my PlayBook up and running (this afternoon) to see what happens.

Maybe by that point AT&T will have blocked Bridge with a service book. Joy.

Leave AT&T? Soon the question will be, Where you gonna go?

As an aside, y'all prompted me to go ahead and download the bridge app, from app world. ... Now appreciating T-Mobile more than ever, while I still can. ... But waiting on my PlayBook from Best Buy.

Very true... each carrier has its set of issues, but if I do leave AT&T, I will move to the carrier that offers a set of restrictions that I can live with. AT&T pulling this stunt is not something I feel I can live with. So sure, the grass may look greener on the other side, but as long as I know what color the grass actually is before I move, then I'm okay with non-green grass.

That shouldn't be (at least I don't think so). The bridge links the calendar, the memos, the email all which have nothing to do with ATT.
