Default Please Help!! Desktop software reset my password and i'm going to lose all my data!

Please Login to Remove!

Ive been using the Curve for a few months and never used the desktop software. I had device password that I used the entire time and absolutely never changed it. Last night, I decided to load the desktop software that came with the phone to download all my contacts into outlook. After I successfully installed the software I connected my phone to my computer and it prompted me for a device password. somehow my password that I have used since I got the phone does not work!!!! i'm at 9/10 attempts and I know it will reset the phone to factory settings if I fail this last time! Can anyone help??????

Thanks in advance! I can't lose all of my contacts!!

Are you using any special charaters in your password when you type it in on the device?

Do NOT type it in 10 times wrong while it's connected to your PC - it will wipe both the data AND the OS.

The password has not changed. Desktop Manager has not changed it. You are typing the password differently on the PC than on the BB, likely because of numbers, special characters or caps. This has happened to others. Unfortunately at 9/10, you only have one more to try.

Do you press the alt key when entering your password?

If not, then it's actually letters. For example 1234 would be wers.

Do a battery pull and try again.

When you normally type in your password (before this started) did you hold down the ALT key to type the numbers? If not, then you got letters, not numbers.

Ok, just to confirm, and don't take this wrong, but you held down the ALT key (under the A key) and not the CAP key (left of the 0 key), right?

No, it never prompts for new password on the computer - only on the device. And it would have said 'New Password'....and if you've never changed it, you would have had to navigate into several screens and specifically request to change your password for that to happen.

No, it wouldn't have done that. Did you hold the ALT key the entire time you entered your password or just pressed it once than entered your password?

But if i'm doing it the same exact way on the phone as I always have, how have things changed? I only tried 1-5 on the PC then unplugged it and tried 6-8 on the phone.

As jsconyers asked....do you hold the ALT key the entire time you're typing the 4 numbers?

Your girlfriend's phone? Is she there with you?

Sorry for saying this, but this makes me suspicious now....

So then give it to her, and have her unlock it for you.

haha good point! We both got new last night and we were trying to move her contacts from blackberry to outlook to download to the new phone. I "helped" her by installing the software she never used and its locked the phone. she's freaking out because I may have lost all her contacts. She is home with the phone and has the password, i have no idea what it is accept that its all numbers. I'm not trying to break into her phone, she has the phone and knows the password. But good looking out.
