Question Wifi on Storm 2?

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, so i am new the Blackberry experience and have a Storm, but I don't understand why WiFi on Storm 2 is such a huge deal...is there a reason I want to have WiFi on my device when I can get online at any time anyway just using the network...just curious if anyone knows the answer to this...

WiFi typically has faster data transfer speeds compared to using the EVDO network.
WiFi comes in handy in areas where there's limited or no carrier data coverage.

It's a "huge deal" on the Storm2 because this will be Verizon's first BlackBerry device with WiFi capabilities and sets a precedent which will hopefully follow to future BlackBerry devices.

Some users will appreciate the addition, while other user's may never have a need for it.
There's certainly no downside to having it as an option.

Wirelessly posted (My name is Bubbles)

After having a BB without wifi and then getting my Bold with it, I won't buy any other BlackBerry without it, at first I didn't think it was a big deal, but after using it the speed of it is nice.

Not so sure about that.

1) There is no SIP client, so no integration with a VoIP environment.
2) Only T-Mobile supports UMA (voice over IP on a BB) on T-Mobile devices.

You will get Wifi speeds for data, but I very much doubt if you will get voice over IP.

Agito Networks has a Voip client for WiFI Blackberry devices:
