Default Point me to an AT&T Theme clone & tell me how to install :)

Please Login to Remove!

My goal is to change the default AT&T theme on my Torch so I can get the Blackberry Maps icon to show all the time. As you know, AT&T likes to hide the icon for BB Maps even though it's installed. Our BES admin has blocked usage of Blackberry App World so I can't search that to get new themes. I've searched around but haven't found what I'm looking for yet on the web. What I want is this...

1. A near clone of the default AT&T theme (I like the theme, I just can't get the BB Maps to stay visible on this one.
2. A way to easily install it without using BB App World. OTA or some other easy method would be fine. Just please tell me how to install it
3. Free. Free is always good, right? I'd be willing to pay a few bucks if it was a good, reliable theme that was really close to the default AT&T Torch theme.

Anyone know of a free theme like this out there somewhere?

Oh and by the way, the reason I want BB Maps is because Google Maps does not have the 'Track up' feature which is great when you can't stare at the screen to figure out the correct orientation! I want to see myself going straight on the map as it tracks me, not sideways or down, Google.

Thanks!

Or as close to the default theme as possible. As long as it's similar

Check out the themes section at the Crackberry.com site. Many free ones there along with paid ones.

But, the theme has nothing to do with BB Maps not showing up. I've got 17 different themes and none of them affect whether or not BB Maps' icon comes back.

I think there is a file that can supposedly be downloaded and installed that will bring it back (the method is also somewhere posted on the Crackberry site), but I've never tried it. I'm happy enough with Google Maps.

If I remember correctly, BB Maps isn't blocked by a theme. Somehow AT&T has it blocked by software. There has been much discussion, but I do not recall a way to make it show up - at least it isn't easy to do.

Google Maps works for me.

I have the link to download BB maps again to get the icon back. I've read on here that if you change the default AT&T theme to something else, it'll let the icon stay. I did this on my previous Bold and it did work. It was still a little flaky, like if I installed a new app (any app) the BB maps icon would go away. Then I'd go back to BB and install the BB maps again and the icon would come back. So, there really is something to the idea of changing the default theme to something else to get the icon to stay. It worked on my Bold with AT&T. I hope to do the same on the Torch. The 'Track Up' feature is the only reason I'd like to have BB maps - for occasional use. Otherwise I use Google Maps most often.

Bummer - I decided to download the iBerry theme (for $1.99) but after reinstalling BB Maps, the icon still is not appearing - on the new theme. I checked all the various folders in case it was in an unexpected place, but I guess AT&T is doing more to hide it on the Torch. It did work on my Bold 9700 I just switched from. Oh well.

Do a search on BB maps in this forum. I had a similar problem and believe I had to uninstall then reinstall it manually via Desktop Manager -- which worked!

Still no luck. I used desktop manager to remove bb maps and then reinstalled bb maps via desktop manager with the at&t theme active. Icon would not appear anywhere (I did show all to make sure nothing was hidden, checked all folders as well). I switched to the new iberry theme I installed, then removed/added bb maps again and still no bb maps icon. It shows it's installed, but there's no icon.

If you get QuickLaunch you can launch BB Maps from there. I'm on AT&T with a Torch and that's what I do. QuickLaunch has a lot going for it. When I found I could start BB Maps it was a pleasant surprise.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the BBLaunch App too. I did have to go in and manually reinstall BBMaps via DM after BBLaunch was loaded, I think...

Maybe not, but QuickLaunch has enough going for it that I wanted it before I knew it would run BB Maps.

Sure, you can install BB maps free. No problem, but did you read the rest of the discussion??? AT&T is hiding the icon so I can't launch it. Since quicklaunch can go in and directly launch an app, I don't have to worry now about AT&T hiding the dang icon from me. So no, you don't need to buy anything to use bb maps...unless there's something like this going on. I tried everything and quicklaunch is the only thing that works.
