Default My credit lasts 5 mins on PAYG 8800!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys, hope you can help me ;)

I have been using a blackberry 8800 that I bought in the states. It's unlocked and I have put PAYG sim card in it now that I'm back in Europe. The problem is my credit disappears even though I'm barely using it.

I was told to change the APN to a fake address so the phone won't keep trying to connect to the net. I did this but no change really.

And now I've heard that because it's an android phone there is nothing I can do to avoid my credit being chewed up if I want to use it on PAYG..?? Is this true? Is there any way to avoid the phone trying to connect?

I only use the phone for calls and texts anyway, it isn't set up for browsing.

Thanks guys!!

No, CLEAR the APN.
Delete, and untick any boxes.

What? A 8800 is a BLACKBERRY not an Andriod phone.

Ok thank you for that. I have deleted all the APN info; user name and password etc. There are no boxes I can untick as far as I'm aware. Let's see.
