Default OS: 8120 4.5.0.139/4.5.0.102 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

From Rogers, but will work on any 8120 from any carrier

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl (TM) 8120 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.139 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.139
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.102
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.85
* File name: 8120M_PBr4.5.0_rel139_PL2.7.0.85_A4.5.0.102_Rogers .exe
* File size: 82.88MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...C068A355BBA31A

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8120:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

My upgrade went without any issues. Following the upgrade, I am experiencing a large number of failed calls. Some of the failed calls have occurred during the UMA to cell handoff others are just UMA failures during the call.

Recovery has not always been uneventful. On one of the failures the device switched over to the cell network then back to UMA but I counld not receive or make calls until I turned off the connections then restored the connections.

Make sure you select "Blackberry Pearl (TM) 8120 smartphone" rather than "Blackberry 8120" because the latter seems to be an older version

It wasn't there initially, but a battery pull solved that.

Does this have the limitation that prevents the use of the * or # keys from the main menu like .81 and .93? That was the reason I went back to .69.

Answered my own question. Yep, still has that same issue when attempting to dial a number that starts with a * or # from the home screen.

I wonder why the lastest beta versions do this?
