I will throw in my $.02

I originally has the 8700 for over a year, switched to the iphone, and now after 5 months, I am switching back to my blackberry. (8300! )

The iphone, for me, is/was a great phone. The touchscreen keyboard definitely took some time getting used to, but after a few weeks I could type nearly as fast as I did on my blackberry. As mentioned by others, there are alot of great things about the iphone that I loved, beautiful screen, awesome browser, youtube, google maps, etc. But what was the final nail in the coffin was the lack of 3rd party apps.

Even with my iphone being unlocked, and jailbroken, the lack of 3rd party apps for the iphone was a deal breaker. I wanted to sell the phone earlier, but I waited until the end of February, because they were going to announce the SDK. Now, with the SDK released, Apple admits *June* will be the time you will be able to run native software.

F that noise.
Is it that hard to throw a proper IM client on the iphone? I used web based applications, but they are real battery killers. Actually, any app which required extensive screen time (like chat)drained the battery quicker. And with it being non removable, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place of how to spend my iphone usage.

Then I dropped my iphone in the grocery store, from about one meter. The screen, no damage, but the metal housing, BIG dent.

I have dropped my blackberry from greater distances with no problems. Actually, I was never afraid of dropping my blackberry because it felt solid. The iphone I was always afraid it would slip out of my hands; Which it finally did.

I could have solved this by using a case, but then where is the real beauty of the phone?

So in short, both phones are great. Personally, I prefer the blackberry for more reasons than I can list. The iphone, while great, is still a 1st gen device and has room for improvements.
