Default [01-30-2005] RIM to launch Verizon EV-DO Blackberry?

An EV-DO BlackBerry from Verizon?
Posted Nov 2, 2004, 10:05 AM ET by Peter Rojas

Just got a hot tip that Research In Motion is working on a new BlackBerry that’ll connect up to Verizon new high-speed EV-DO wireless network (which delivers download speeds in the area of 200 to 300Kbps), and that they’re also planning to include software on it that’ll let you use the BlackBerry as a wireless modem. Supposedly should be out by February. (Pictured at right, the BlackBerry 7290.)

I'd like Verizon a whole lot better if they started using SIM cards.

With ATT/Cingular, Tmobile, and Nextel if someone brings me their broken phone, I just swap their SIM, resync and send them on their way.

Gothalyptic, I edited your post because your post automatically shows up on the cover page of www.blackberryclub.com -- and posts should ideally contain a [MM-DD-YYYY] prefix in the title in this forum. Just so you know!

This would be the BlackBerry model 7250. I imagine that this model includes eV-DO.

ESN changes in Verizon's vision system are just as quick and easy as a sim swap ;) I've been on both sides, both have pro's and con's, this Ev-Do will rock on a BB without doubt, can't wait.

Yes, but the 7250 has a Qualcomm EV-DO chip inside it. It's upgradeable to EV-DO.
