Please Login to Remove!

hey.
I've been looking around the forums for fixes and none of them helped me
here's the story
my dad gave me his old bb 8800 cos the charge port was broken so i went out and spent a hundred bucks to get it replaced
i get it home charge it up
then BINGO
i get home the screen won't turn on!

i get some voice telling me to "select a command" and i can hear the clicking when i scroll the turn wheel thing.
have taken all battery out left for awhile then put back in ect
please help me.

could this just be becasue it doesn't have a sim yet?
because my old phones sim is a different kind.

thanks

sam.

EDIT
I don't know what the OS is
and when i try to connec tit to the computer it says "please insert a device" so the computer won't register it's there

Sounds like there is a loose connection. Open the device up (very easy to do, look for a YouTube video or check the FAQ here) and check the connection. Reseat it if possible. If not, you will need to order a new screen.

My response is going to be less technical and more practical. For that same $100, you can get another 8800 or 8300 model which wont have the circuitry problems you had. It seems like a hardware issue and not OS related.
