Help with Name Dialing

Upgraded from a Curve, with it I could press and hold the green call button while in the call log and it would call up my address book and allow me to dial from it. On the 9700 when I do this it brings up a phone number I'm not familiar with. I can still type a letter and it will show the expanded tree version of the address book but I don't like that. Any ideas or has anyone else experienced this?
