Default Did I upgrade correctly?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB Bold and I want to upgrade the OS. I have .162.

The instructions i followed were to download the os update from my carriers site which I did. I installed it. Started Desktop Manager 4.7 and did a backup.

When I connected the device, it checked for updates but did not say anything about a OS update. I went to update software manually and it did its thing but i read that the process is supposed to take an hour maybe two and it only took about 10 minutes.

I went to the help page on my Bold and it says

App Version: 4.6.0.162 (292)

I don't notice any differences and since it took so short i doubt i did it correctly.

Any input?

The BB didn't reboot itself or anything. It did screw up my browser but i fixed that. Maybe I didn't download the right thing? DM checks for the updates but only finds 3 and they're all for foriegn languages.

Right, you downloaded the same OS that is already on your phone, which is why it didn't do anything. .162 (.292) and .292 is the same thing. the OS is .162 the package version is .292
There are later OS's which Rogers havent released.
Check the 9000 forum. the latest is .247

Did you remove the vendor.xml file?

Okay thanks. I'll check there for the download. Does it matter if its from my carrier or not? I did not remove the vendor file, it wasn't in the instructions i found.

If the OS is for your carrier, it doesn't matter. If it's from another carrier then it matters.

No. any carriers Os can be loaded, but you need to find and remove the vendor file when loading a carriers Os that is not your carrier. instructions are also in the latest OS thread.

Thanks, i found the thread and am downloading the file. I see they have different instructions, i will try those.

After my previous attmept to upgrade, my calendar is all messed up now. I have a Today theme that shows the 3 upcomming events, but it doesn't show appointments anymore it just shows birthdays. I don't sync with any programs or anything, my calendar is all manually entered.
