Os .141?
Ok guys, what are your thoughts on .141? I am debating the upgrade and curious to see what you guys think of it. Let me know how the whole experience is, how the upgrade went, your experiences with the new OS, thoughts on new abilities and features (if any). I am looking forward to seeing what you guys have to say about it.
Here is a link to the bbnews article on it.

That OS is for the 9500, not the 9530.
You can however copy and paste the java files from that 9500 OS to a 9530 OS folder, etc., if you know what you are doing.

I do not know what I am doing well enough to do something like that. I have not had my 9530 long enough yet to break it. I guess I misinterpreted the article and took at as all of the 9500 line.

For what it is worth, 4.7.0.141 for the 9530 is also out there.

Is it worth upgrading from .132?

Too soon to tell. There was a VERY short period of time between the two OSes.

I'm really liking this OS. The Storm is now quite fast and responsive and very usable.

Loaded it yesterday onto my 9530. Seems moderately faster, but haven't noticed a huge difference. No other big changes noted.
Although, I must admit that since I started with .75, then went to .122, then went to .132, and now to .141, I haven't noticed any big differences in speed or performance. I am incredibly anal with keeping non-essential items off of my Blackberry, so maybe that's why it's always seemed pretty quick to me.

The biggest difference I have noticed with this .141 is that start up takes less time and consumes less battery. Everything else seems to be pretty much the same as the last leak. I am ready for 5.0 builds not.

Flash4866,
I assume my post regarding .141 and just basic OS upgrade issues got deleted because it offended someone's fragile sensibilities.
However, Having going through several OS upgrades from .65 to currently .132. I am going to say with total conviction that no OS upgrade is going to speed up your Storm. I have only experienced further stability and more features with each upgrade. A faster Storm will only come with a newer generation model. Namely engineering upgrades and more onboard RAM.
It has been my experience that .99, .103, and now .132 are the most stable OS platforms out there. They are stable in that there were less glitches, there was an improvement in the phone's basic functions, and they played well with third party apps.
I absolutely LOVE my Storm. It goes with me everywhere and it has become an integral part of my lifestyle. RIM has great ideas and my only complaint is that I feel they should concentrate more on making a phone run well rather than constantly adding more features during OS development.
It is my hope that RIM develops a second-gen Storm that is lighter, slimmer, with more cool features. In the long run, I think the Storm could definitely rise to a higher level of functionality than the iPhone - and this comes from a huge MAC fan. I am MAC everywhere else in my computing lifestyle.
Regarding .141, if you have to do anything other than uploading an OS build, I think it's not worth the effort. I am also not buying the claims of more efficient battery consumption. My battery life has remained constant through my journey through the beta world. If you are one of those individuals who actively utilize a cellular phone for GPS / Gaming operations, the phone battery is not going to handle it well. It's a cellular phone, not a gaming console, GPS mapping device, etc, etc. It's a phone and if you treat it like a phone / chat portal your battery will do fine. I still get two full days out of my same battery running messenger programs, emailing, Facebooking, and making calls throughout the day. The end of the second day gets me into the red but it lasts. However, I now simply charge it nightly and I only use 2 bars every day.
I see .141 requiring the user to run cracks and the phone losing some of its basic functions. The camera app also apparently does not do well on .141 - a function I use extensively. I hear .141 adds WIFI capability to the phone, however with the BB internet package why is this even necessary unless you are in an underground scenario. I have also read about big issues with the phone locking, another function I use. All can be corrected with a crack utility but not everyone is comfortable with this procedure. You can also screw the procedure and brick your Berry if you're not careful.
My advice, forgo .141, run .132 and a .150 or higher will be out shortly, probably with a lot more bells and whistles as well.
