Exclamation What am I doing wrong?

Please Login to Remove!

I have downloaded Beta OS's before and never had any problems, now it seems like every OS I've loaded on my Bold freezes it up. Also sometimes I loaded one OS and when I check the OS it says that its .167. What am I doing wrong.

1. Download the os
2. Load the os
3. Run DM and load os onto Bold
4. Set back and watch BB freeze up.

After this happens I wipe the device with JL Cmndr and repeat steps and it still does it.

PS I delete the vendor file also

1. Try not using DM, but loader.exe instead.

I don't use DM. I run the Loader.exe file located here:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader

Just make sure you place a check mark next to each feature you want to install. Also, make sure you've uninstalled all other OS's from your PC.

And be patient. If the clock is spinning, just keep waiting. It hasn't locked up.

Have you tried wiping the device with JL-CMDer and then load the OS?

Do you have a media card in your BB?

Try removing the media card.

Also are you checking the box to make a backup? Maybe it is restoring something that is causing the freezing? Just a thought.

Do you have any recent backups? If so, try upgrading the OS without creating a backup, and see how that works.

It worked after I removed the media card, as soon as I replaced the card into the Bold it would lock up so I formated the card and all is good now, but why would the card have anything to do with locking up the phone?

That's interesting. I know this an issue with 4.5. I've never heard of it happening on the Bold devices before.

I think I had a error on my media card, last night it wouldn't play a video I recorded, maybe that was why it would lock up, scanning error?

Did you move that Media Card from your older 4.2 BlackBerry... like a 8700 or Curve 8300 that had been on OS 4.2?

See JC's Media Card thread in the General Section stickies (I think that is where it is).
