My UMA connection randomly drops... Anyone figure out how to get it back on UMA? Read buncha posts on funky UMA/GPS handoffs...

I think you want to set the options > mobile networks > connection preference to Wi-Fi Only.

I was getting dropping problems too, I moved one of my wireless routers to the upstairs and in a better location.. Find that my UMA connection is rock solid now with just moving it.

OK I tried this, but all it does it just connects me only to my local wi-fi network, but doesn't switch over to UMA. What is the condition that the phone needs in order for it to switch over to UMA when there is wifi? It seems to be at random at the moment.

[ok as soon as I posted this, it went into UMA mode after a whole morning of not moving from my desk. It seems that things seem to just work right after posting here. Bottom line, it's still kind of random. Would like to know more about what are the ideal conditions for it to switch over to UMA mode.]

I'm not sure if this is the same problem you were having or not, but I noticed I was able to connect to UMA with my WRT54G Linksys Router for a minute or two, then it would drop to EDGE. This happend all the time in my house, but other WiFi worked fine, IE Starbucks.

I updated the Firmware on the router and it has been connected via UMA ever since and hasn't dropped once.

Good Luck,

JoeB
