No. because between Rogers. Bell, and Telus, their plans are basically the same price.

Im guessing they will go down in price when more and more data products are adopted by a consumer market. The faster speeds (3 G)will have to accomodate the extra usage. You for sure you will see more data for your dollar but who knows how low the data plans will get. I belive you will see a difference within the next 2 yrs

Legacy corp plan over here with unlimited BlackBerry data but a 200mb limit on tethered.

once more and more consumers start using blackberries and not just corporate people the plans will come down.

as long as its mainly corporate users they can charge whatever they want...

I don't believe this would be feasible for most Canadian BB customers unless they frequently travel to the USA. A USA telecom such as T-Mobile would be unable to provide you with a Canadian telephone number. Even with LNP (Local Number Portability) effective March 14, 2007 this doesn't allow telecoms to port numbers from one country to another, just with in the same country. Though if you're only using data access not voice then having a USA telephone number wouldn't be a concern for someone living in Canada.

Nope, thats a voice and data bundle that gets you 25 MB which for many people is huge but its not unlimited. They offer a promotion for the first 3 months its unlimitied but after that you get charged extra if you exceed 25 MB ($7 per additional MB).

There is one higher plan for blackberry which is $100 just for the data plan and it gets a customer 200MB. This is really for the consumer who will be using the BB as a modem.

I suggest going into a store and make sure you are aware of all the details/ promotions or read all the fine print when you surf webpages.

Hard to believe the birthplace country of BB gets screwed. You'd think they'd sell alot more BB's in Canada if they had unlimited data plans. I would think RIM would put pressure on the mobile carriers by now to offer it.

Nope, its much much easier for the US carriers to give much lower rates due to the fact that only one of the major carrier's # of subscribers equals almost more than the whole Canadian wireless market in total.

I would love to see Voda phone in Canada if all the legal barriers of entry were removed.

That, plus the cost of deploying a network over such a large area are the main barriers to entry. I doubt we'll really see any new carriers coming into canada.

There would be if Rogers or any of their any of their companies decided to move opertations outside of Canada. My guess though would be Rogers would be bought out by one of the big boys.

The plans that Telus has are the same as Rogers. This fourm is to inform people and not try to sell them Telus, Bell, or Rogers products.

As far as this thread goes, what is your opinion on when or how data plans will go down in price in Canada?

LOL! I just for curiousity went to the Telus site to take a look.....doesn't sound like there is any major benefit in telus bb plans vs rogers....both are awful. Plus add the cancellation fee in changing providers.....
