When I installed the OS 5.0.0.591 my file free diminished greatly! I used to have about 90,000,000 bytes and now it is running at 20,000,000 bytes. Any reason for this happening or any way for me to up this number back to normal? I checked Wireless Update under Options to see if deleting the old 4.7 would work, but it isn't there.

I use one email address for everything - work and personal. Does that mean that the mail Messages icon and the Desktop icon will end up being exactly the same? Does that have the effect of doubling the number of emails saved on the device? I guess I'll hide one of them, the question is which one? Sorry for all the questions, but any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

No, email is not doubled. It just shows in both places. If you delete from one folder it will be gone in the other. It's basically a filter.

Does it matter which folder I should hide?

Default Email grouping

So I like the txt grouping thing but now my emails are listed in (items). however they are not being grouped correctly. Is there a way to turn this feature off so all email is listed separately? for instance i received an email from someone just fine. then this person was a "cc" on another email that was returned for a incorrect address. my phone grouped these emails as (multiple items). I thought that the email was another from the original person and did not look at it for some time only to find out that the email i was trying to send was never sent. I just want to turn off grouping, is there a way? Or is this an enhanced Gmail pulg in option? if yes how do you remove the enhanced gmail plug in?

The grouping of the gmail only happens in the gmail plugi-in(gmail folder). If you look in the main Messages list they will be listed seperately.

Is it me? I'm finding this a bit too buggy. I do like some of the new features it's like someone paid attention and fine tuned the features... but at what cost.
The volume is not as loud as before, my reception (radio & bluetooth) is not stellar as it once was (yes, I paired again and many battery pulls also) and the browser click issue is pretty damn annoying. I think I'm going back to 4.7 till it's worked out.
My wife hates the faze out of the old screen lock method. I never locked it other than the mute button so I can live with that.

You need to activate it first wth Verizon to turn it on. But be prepared it's another $10. per month... which I don't get... you might as well call the person... especially if they are on the Verizon network too it's free minutes. Poor marketing on that, they should offer it for free at 1st

On the top of the unit is a picture of a lock, pressing it will lock & unlock the keypad.

Is it worth updating the first message on this string to note that the package is now 284 vice 272? Same link and version number.

Is anyone aware of an app that will allow me to get the old lock screen back with this build. And without having to set a password on the device.

I am sticking with 419 for this reason alone.

Check out BEIKS Keyboard Locker (BEIKS Keyboard Locker for BlackBerry) as a possible solution -- it may not be exactly what you are looking for, but it's worth a look...

Default OS 5 upgrade stopped A2DP from working

After I updated to the new OS, everything is working great except I can't stream music to either of my bluetooth headsets that I've used in the past with no problem.

Tour 9630
Jaybird JB-100 (never had a problem before - used at the gym all the time)
Jawbone Icon (new A2DP firmware installed)

Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know of a fix?

Thanks in advance.

What app(s) are you using for streaming?

I, too, have the Jawbone ICON with A2DP and Tour/9630 OS v5.0.0.591, Platform 4.2.0.284 (aka VZW MR 2.5). I have had mixed results with streaming -- the most successful app has been Pandora 1.1.3.3. Once I held down the ICON's talk button to cycle through volume, I was able to bring the audio up to an acceptable range, and I was able to "fine tune" volume via the handset volume control. I had similar success using the built-in RIM Media player. Other apps (e.g., CrackBerry Podcast 2.6.7 [aka Podtrapper]) and YouMail 0.97.0.4) have issues with the adjust of volume via the ICON's talk button, either invoking voice dialing or throwing exceptions instead of adjusting volume.

I am using Pandora and the built-in RIM Media player, both of which didn't use to have a problem until the OS upgrade...however, now that you mentioned Pandora's version in your post...I just realized that in upgrading to their new version, they changed my Options to have Bluetooth "disabled". I changed this and now everything works fine. I don't get why this would impact the RIM Media Player as well...odd..but now they both work.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot this.

.643 doesn't seem to have browser click issue. I am pleased so far.

I had a problem with this one that was corrected by updating to .662.

Problem was that when I took a picture with the camera, the photo would not show up in pictures when I tried to find it. The photo was there as exhibited by being able to find it to attach file to email. I would have to reboot by pulling the battery for the photo to show up.

Just installed this update on my 3 day old Verizon 9630 and everything is running great. Just upgraded from an old Curve 8330 and what a difference in the OS. I much prefer 5.0 to my Curve's OS. My best friend has a 9630 too from US Cellular and I did the manual install for him and he us much happier with the threaded SMS. Great forum you all have here!
