I was just about to exchange two tours we purchased but thought it odd that both would have the same sound glitch. I fixed it after taking Irish 10's advice. Look at page 3 of the popular thread Problems With Tour and look for my moniker. Adjusting the Treble fixed this issue on both phones.

no, i know about that. That doesnt have much of an effect. Thats basically tweeking the "EQ" on the speaker, but doesnt fix the lows on the speaker itself because the speaker was built that way. I was just wondering if anybody has actually exchanged there Tour and gotten a Tour that actually sounds better regardless of there "EQ" options...

I exchanged my first tour today due to extremely loose battery door and muffled speaker. My new one has a tighter battery door, not perfect but better, and the speaker is a little better as well. The only problem I have now is slight screen ripple when pressing the end button. I think I am going to just live with this because who knows what may be wrong with the next one. BTW my first tour was a mexico one, this time I requested a canada model.

The only problem I have now is slight rippeling when I press the end button. I think I am just going to keep what I have because who knows what I will get next. Despite these few problems I still think it is a good phone.

Also did what stock market recommends above. And changed to Enhanced Audio on, same Options screen. That alone improved audio. I believe the 8830 had audio issues as well when it first came out. May have been improve by software updates, can't remember. All the background noise coming through that people would complain about on Verizon. Funny how some folks refer back to that as being great now.

Ended up spending some time the other day on the phone with a BB engineer trying to fix a problem with my Curve (business phone), and had time to ask about Tour audio. He had some engineer talk about wave lengths and such and how each phone is somewhat unique (model, not individual, unless different components from different vendors or batches are used in the same model) ... right over my head. Net-net, he said that on a good signal the Tour audio should be very good, and the muffled thing has more to do with the local signal and interference. I have noticed my Curve audio is better in my office (in my house) than the Tour ... poor signal, lots of fluctuations between 1 - 3 bars, while the Tour is MUCH better on a steady 3 - 4 bar signal.

Exchanged mine a few days ago and seemed to fix the muffled sound and trackball issue. Figners crossed to see if it lasts.

Exchanged mine to fix the trackball issue, but didn't do anything for sound quality.
