Default Quick Question about OS Shirinking, should we shrink 5.0?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
Is it recommended to use BB BOSS or similar programs to shrink the installation size of 5.0 ? Would that be beneficial?

I am planning to downgrade from 6.0 back to native or latest 5.0 to get back more application storage and faster operation.

The current processor is limited in a blackberry and so is the memory. Not sure it would be useful in a commercial environment, the intended use. Also at what point does the user become confused with too many apps.

Thanks tsac.
I just want it to run faster and avoid potential memory issues.
I really don't need the additional language packs, don't want some of the games, I don't need Aim, gtalk, potcasts, twitter, facebook, don't need mobile stock or telenav, there are also bunch of vendor specific apps that get loaded, in addition to few additional themes. Also specialty dictionaries, etc..

With these selected, I was able to get 45MB additional memory, and knowing how quickly it ran out of memory in the past with a lot of e-mails, etc.. this is like golden.

I did not install the OS yet, but this was a nice surprise.

I also receive a lot of emails every day and you are correct, it does cause issues when a lot of useless apps are installed. I generally delete any I can.

Wow, 87MB free space, compared to 8 with OS6 (max was 20MB, but it would very quickly drain for some reason)
Anyway, going back to 5.0 reminds me how much I missed the fast response and cramped e-mail list view.. Hello 13 e-mails instead of 6-7 or whatever it was on 6.0
