Default Connecting to Wi-Fi Only

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
Can anyone help? I'm going away at the end of the week and want to be able to connect to the free hotel Wi-Fi so I can send messages and pictures using the WhatsApp application and not get charged for using anything. I'm not bothered about access to calls or texts or surfing the web but would like to use this application to stay in touch with friends and family. Is there a way I can cut off all my connections but just use the free Wi-Fi? I really need an idiots guide for my Blackberry 9780. I don't want to come back from Mexico to find I've got a bill of hundreds or even thousands from O2.
Thanks.

Yes. Provided you have BlackBerry tariff from O2, when you turn off the mobile network you should remain connected via WiFi.

See page 220 of the manual to turn off roaming data:

Thanks for this. Yes I am with O2.
So to clarify if I tun OFF Mobile Network in the Manage Connections folder and leave Data Services and While Roaming ON, I should be able to connect to the hotel Wi-Fi and not incur any changes what so ever?

No. You simply need to turn off services while roaming.

1) It is impolite to hijack someone else's thread with your own issue
2) To set up WiFi you will need a BlackBerry Data Plan on your account. Contact your carrier.
