Startup?

No. You can't change the startup. It's burned into the ROM.

Unlocked doesn't have anything to do with it.

You can change the theme, however, once the device has booted.

Using another SIM card will not change the startup screen.

maybe i wasnt clear enough, i want the background in the menu to change if i can. not the screensaver or desktop or whatever, when you push the blackberry logo menu button, the icons are ontop of this hideous red background that looks like a bucket of ass and makes it hard to see the icons. i want this changed. the other questions were filler.

Nice language. :(

You can change the wallpaper. Just find a picture that you want. Load it to your Media Card. Navigate to it. Press the Menu button. Select "Set as Wallpaper".

And you can load an different theme. Just look in the theme section of the forum for one that you like. Install it. And activate it.

somehow the whole point seems to be missed when i use a three letter word that can also mean donkey as apposed to the thing most of us are sitting on browsing this forum.

im not after a wall paper change. i would hope people ask harder questions on a forum

is there a way to change the background image for the menu.
the themes do not change this, and it uses a different image than the one i have as a wall paper.
the image it uses is brighter than the icons in the menu and makes it hard to see them...
can i plug the phone into the computer and browse the internal memory and find the image and change it or anything? there has to be some way around this.

One more time. And I will type more slowly.

Those thing ARE controlled by the THEME. It's up to the them developer to determine the background image for the menu.

Look for a different theme that looks the way that you want. There's no other way to change it.

And as an aside, I doubt seriously that that was your intended meaning of that word and phrase.

w h e n I c h a n g e t h e t h e m e , i t d o e s n ' t c h a n g e t h e m e n u b a c k g r o u n d.

does not matter which theme i use the ROGERS branded wallpaper does not go away from the MENU background, not the DESKTOP i can change that with the greatest of ease.

do you think donkies are pretty? what about a bucket full of donkey? not very pretty, is it? neither is the crap ass over saturated red background of the menu with the ROGERS logo in the middle of it.

slow typing hurts my fingers.

and as an aside, that doesnt make sense...
so....
P.S.
you can just not answer if you dont know, you dont have to reply to every thread on here... and based on the statement you said "It's up to the them developer to determine the background image for the menu." im going to take a large step and assume you meant that its up to the theme developer... this being said (properly worded this time) means that I can develop my own theme and make my own menu background. correct?
no sense getting rude on me, its just gonna make me act like a donkey to you, donkey. -no puns intended.

Yes. You can download theme dev kits from RIM free of charge. http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/themestudio/
Never really used one, but go ahead, build your own theme.
Or download a theme where the dev has coloured the menu backgrounds used in the theme, as opposed to using the "device default" - if the theme uses red, don't complain here!

You're not from around here.. Since that software is the property of RIM and was taken without permission, we don't discuss it.
