Um,...... I installed this twice, and I have no Icon or anything for it?

Edit:
Nevermind, when i had previously downloaded a non working version of AIM i had "Hidden" the icon, it appears it stays hidden. So i unhid it and it works fine.

Default Error when logging in?

Does anyone else have a problem at the login screen? When I click the 'Sign On' button, I see an error message:

Quote:
Please visit www.blackberry.com/aim to activate your handheld for AOL Instant Messenger.
Did what it said, and it just takes me to download the software again. I uninstalled it, downloaded/installed again and still have this error.

Also, on a possibly related note, I now have TWO Internet Browser icons. This happened directly after I downloaded the AIM program. If I hide one, the other hides as well. I can move one to the end of my icons and out of view but if any other icon change is made (a move, a hide or new icon installed) the icons pair back up right next to each other.

Even though we're drifting off topic, I actually have some very recent insight here. I recently switched from Verizon to Sprint because of the cost. Here is the breakdown of my Verizon plan: $79.99 Core Choice 450 plan (450 peek minutes, unlimted N&W at 9pm, unlimited VZW-to-VZW, unlimited data) plus $19.99 unlimited texting. That's $99.98 per month. You can imagine that bill was not my favorite to open.

Now to Sprint. $39.99 Power Pack 450 (450 peek minutes, unlimited N&W starting at 7pm, unlimited Sprint-to-Sprint) plus $39.99 BlackBerry Unlimited Data Pack (title of it says it all), plus $10.00 Unlimited SMS. That's $89.98.

This of course does not include line discounts. I received 19% on Verizon to bring the base bill down to $79.98 per month. I receive 23% on Sprint to bring the base bill down to $69.28 per month.

Why pay more? I suppose if you have many, many friends on Verizon it would make sense to use your network-to-network minutes that way. Fortunately for me the person I call the most (girlfriend) is on Sprint, so I'm definitely saving on both the price and stress about wondering if I'm about to go over on my minutes with a week to go in the cycle. My bill may not be "a hell of a lot cheaper" than yours, but even before discounts Sprint is the cheaper option right now.

My wifes phone, my phone, 2 sons phone and my data 2100 minutes 139.00 plus 44.99 for unlimited data best part company pays for it all so it doesnt cost me anything

And I left Sprint for Verizon because of dropped calls

This actually was related. According to nzomnia in this thread this thread, Sprint installs their Internet Browser when you download and install AIM. Delete one (I did the Sprint one per instructions) and you're good to go!

My guess is that one opened the new Sprint internet browser that came with AIM, and one opened the old browser. There was no way to tell the difference between the two that I saw. I removed the old service book, which killed one of the icons.

Last I saw, Sprint/RIM had turned off the ability to download AIM from www.blackberry.com/AIM. So I've been unable to get AIM to work. I believe the culprit is the missing AIM service book, which for some reason does not send when I download and install AIM.

Verizon may have the stronger network but at least sprint doesn't intentionally cripple their devices. Its only a matter of time before the other carriers beef up their coverage to equal verizons. Say what you will about sprint but I'm currently paying less than half of what I would have to pay for a blackberry with verizon and I'm getting more services.

Still having issues downloading this! I can't even download the AIM installer anymore, the page says that my carrier doesn't support AIM -- we clearly know that's wrong. Anyone else having problems?

BB plans are the same on both 44.95. Its the service thats different and I dont care about GPS as I stated before. I dont need it on my phone. They cripple MMS but I dont use that either so no worries on whats crippled and whats not.

I get 2100 minutes a month for 130.00 on two lines extra phone for 9.99
