Default BES install and Chinese Language

Please Login to Remove!

It says to enable in the Blackberry components for Simplified and Traditional Chinese and to download the MS IE multilanguage support pack prior to installing the BES software. Does this really have to be done if it is going to just be used for English?

I think that BES 4.0 is support the TC ans SC in server side and you should use Version 4.0 Handhels to read and write the chinese message. We're use BES 4.0 for Domino and also the handheld version 4.0 can read and write the chinese message.

No, I don't want to use Chinese, but in the product documentation has a check list this in it.

We just added the language packs in regional options, and that took care of our Chinese character issues.

Default Chinese Support for Email only?

Hi Richard,

The settings via the Regional Options in the Control Panel, are you referring to the "Languages" tab settings? How about the "Code Page Conversion tables? What are your settings like? Are your settings enough to allow Chinese Support for email only? Or it support web browising on the handhelds using MDS too? Could you please advise me? Thanks.

Under XP I just enable "Install file for East Asian Languages" under Languages, and after I had the Chinese font on my local BlackBerry I'm able to use our MDS browser to browse Chinese web sites.
