Angry Google Maps Trouble?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently did an upgrade from v.2.3.2 to v.3.2.1 and found issues where Google Maps was not updating My Location. It was very sluggish. One out of every 10 tries would it find My Location. So I figured it was my device (an 8330) and though it might be too much for the unit since the app size was much larger. I downgraded back to v.2.3.2 and found the same issue. So I wiped the device with JL_CMDR and re-installed the OS, etc. and put back the older version (v.2.3.2) thinking it should work like it used to. Well, that version, even after a wipe, is sluggish. Only once in a while can it find My Location. I'm in a strong signal area (-80dB) so it's not that. All other apps that require data (the browser amongst some other apps) all work fine and immediate.

I guess the question now is, is Google having trouble with their servers when it comes to Google Maps For Mobile or is this an isolated issue I'm having? I can't figure out what else I can do but I was wondering if others were seeing the same problem on their devices? This has been happening since Sunday morning.

Thanks.

Though I am not on VZW nor am I using an 8330, I can say I have had no issues running the new Gm version on my 9000, 8900, and 8310.

Also, it may be helpful for others to help you if you add your OS version to your Profile.

I should update that thanks. I'm currently on v.4.5.0.138 using an 8330 on Verizon.

One thing is for sure - the latest Gmaps is a battery and heat hog!

My Bold heats up like crazy and battery drops while in use with GPS route.

I can't use it for long distances without a second battery or car charger.

Haven't noticed any issues on my Tour with heat or battery.

Wirelessly posted (9000)

I've been having the same problem running this GM version on my Bold. I'll get a notice saying "your location within 79000M, waiting for GPS"! Its extremely sluggish doing locates to the point of being useless.
