I have updated to the latest interface, and everything is fine, ,,until some bug gets into the system and I end up with the white screen of death. I boot, but it boots into the white screen. I think it is a software problem, since after I let it sit when this happened last time for a day, it came back fine and worked perfectly for 2 weeks..now it is back. Can I revert to an earlier interface??

If you are referring to a totally white screen, with no error message at all, then it is probably not a software problem. Do a search and read the threads where people have encountered this.

If you have a white screen with a message in small black font in the center of the screen and it is not corrected by a hard reset (i.e. you remove the batter, with the power on, wait at least 30 seconds, then replace the battery, and the device boots to the same screen) then you will need to wipe the device software and then reinstall it.

If you have the while screen with no message, you can try wiping the device and then reisntalling the software. If that does not fix the problem, then you will know it is not a software problem.

Perfect. Thanks. Please expalin how I "wipe" the device. You are correct, there is NO message...simply a white screen. If it is not a software problem, what is it and can it be fixed?

Wipe the device using JL_CMDER or BBSAK. See BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ. The wipe will leave you with a 507 error (no device software) which you probably won't see anyway with the display fault. I guess if you do see the 507 error that will be a good sign.

After you wipe the device, reinstall the OS either from your carrier, or install the latest official release following the directions in the "latest OS" stick thread for the 9700.

This appeared to me and I sorted it by deleting some applications to free up some memory and it has now gone away.
