I Am Currently With Sprint And Im Very Interested In The BB 8830, Im Not Really Looking To Switch Service Providers Since Im Going To Still Use My Current Phone (Sanyo M1) Along With The BlackBerry/Sidekick LX....
I Am Willing To Tell The BB To Kick Rocks If The Sidekick Is A Better Choice...
-I Am Looking For The Phone(BB or Sidekick) To Be Able To Give Great Email Feedback- Yahoo, Gmail, Or The In-House Email Client
-I Need The Phone To Run The Web Browser And Surf The Internet Nicely, Without Flaws And At A Decent Speed
-ORGANIZATION....I Know The BB Will Prevail In This Catagory, But I Need The Phone To Allow Me To Add Several Dates, Times And Keep A Nice Schedule
-I Need The Phone To Have A Nice User Interface
-I Would Also Like The Phone To Be Able To Instant Message And Text WITHOUT FLAW, And Use AIM/YahooIM
Really Im Just Going To Use The Phone For Everything I Stated Above Except For Calls Which Will Be Mostly Done On My Sanyo M1....

It was the sidekick slide that they pulled!! My sister just bought the sidekick lx, and I must say its a vary nice phone!!!!! |

Chat client Jivetalk you can run multiple at once ie yahoo,msn and aol
Internet speeds on BB are just as good as sidekick unless you get the 8320 with wifi in theory should be faster
I'd go with BB

A lot depends on your requirements (and age).
The BlackBerry is much more suited to people who need secure, wireless e-mail, with web browsing, MMS, SMS and phone. And the major strength is e-mail.
The Sidekicks appeal to a younger demographic, which may be more appealing.
And I have never seen an IM device that guarantees "Instant Message And Text WITHOUT FLAW". Since IM seems important, perhaps the Sidekick is right for you.

So, i bought the sidekick as a test vs the blackberry....i must say the sidekick is very nice and the keyboard is amazing...the blackberry's keyboard is a little tighter than the sk's...
the email client on the SK is TERRIBLE....i set up yahoo mail on the sk and i sent myself an email to that address i set up, it took twice the amount of time to get on the sk than it did 2 get on the computer...
the web browser on the sidekick renders web pages nicely as far as the layout goes, but the speed of data transfer is horrific...with all my bars in service it was just about the same amount of time as Sprint without EV-DO...so imagine how much faster sprint is....
the IM client on the sk is amazing, of course thats exactly what it is most known for...
the user interface is very simple and very very user friendly, it took approx. 1 day to learn all the shortcuts, etc.
the calender on the sidekick is decent, the blackberry calender seems simpler and easier to use...
the notepad was a big thing for me considering i rap, so i needed something that would be always available for me to type lines, ideas, etc on...with that said the notepad is decent...it is not as extensive as i thought it would be, i was expecting more of a microsoft "word"-esque notepad...
the myspace app was a nice touch seeing as you can message people, view messages and events, and view profiles...but i only use myspace as a marketing tool for my music...so its really not incredibly important...
the download catalog was decent, the sidekick really just offers programs that t mobile has made for it, no 3rd party apps....this was a BIG turnoff for me...
finally...
the SERVICE....T MOBILE is possibly the WORST service provider ive ever been with, my calls and signal were dropped constantly...the browser, email and im wouldnt work if the network was down...and seeing as how it was down QUITE OFTEN i couldnt do much with it in certain places....
sooo....after all that, i would def keep the sidekick had it not been for t mobiles TERRIBLE service...
i will be returning the Sidekick LX for a full refund...
now the question is, do i want a BlackBerry 8830 or wait for the Curve to come out on sprint? any suggestions?....

You will have faster internet speed on the 8830 as evdo is so much faster then a edge.

your on a site by predominantly BB users so it's not a surprise but I did use the sidekick and own an 8830 and one of the advantages to me is the amount of apps available for blackberry's and most of them are free, not to mention the sidekick you always need to flip open and close which was annoying to me but i'm a BB person now.

Well the IMing is the only part that might be a little weak for the 8830, but i would still take it over the sidekick. Have you considered the Helio Ocean? Its kind of a jack of all trades and does IM very well. However, i dont think u can beat the BB for email and organizing.
