I'm surprised no one else has posted this it was up yesterday (a few different carriers have it)

Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9000 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.243 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.6.0.243
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.6.0.126
Software Platform: 4.0.0.135
File name: 9000EastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel243_PL4.0.0.135_A4.6.0.12 6_Hutchison.exe
File size: 93.46MB

Click on this link and pull down the window for this download:

I still have an odd bug but it seems to have stopped playing up quite a bit!

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.6 installed. Older versions will load the OS but may not be full compatible with all the memory of the Bold. You can get DM 4.6 here:
Vodafone Germany
2. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS version for the 9000: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-6-0-92-a.html

I can fully recommend all bold users to download this update, esp the orange UK ones (Not sure what version the rogers ones are out the box)

Since upgrading i've noticed:

1. when coming out of bedtime mode on the clock, coverage indicator works again (would stay off on 96)
2. "blackberry pin" icon is replaced with "blackberry messanger" icon
3. yochube seems to work (Youtube didnt work on 96 for me)
4. on 96, i noticed i kept having phantom messages, and had to battery pull to clear them.
5. sound seems a lot clearer on 126 compated to 96.
6. theres so new games installed (Texas Hold um' 2, this wasnt on my orange S/w)
7. crappy orange world icon is replaced by "Browser" icon.

anybody else got 126 on, and can share any other differences?

I have downloaded this. But have a question before i install this.

Ca this upgrade be installed on all versions of the bold? even those from other countries/operators?

I have a demo bold (not for sale/lease. for RIM use only), which has BETA all over the screen.

I see you recommend that orange UK customers upgrade, however will this install on an un-modified (network locked) device? I am starting to get annoyed with the rubbish battery life and network dropouts

I can't seem to upgrade. When you install the upgrade software and then plug in your BB, isn't Desktop Manager supposed to ask you if you wish to upgrade the BB OS?

Edit: Nevermind. Forgot that you have to remove vendor.xml from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.

It's a vanilla Orange UK locked device. I backed up and finished the upgrade and it seems to be working fine. Got rid of bunch of the languages and got an extra 6MB (approx) of memory.

Is the upgrade worth if you have the Rogers version?
