Yeah I figured I needed 4.5 for some features but I didn't think I needed it for the instant hotmail pushing...so like I said I re-linked the acct and it still isn't coming to my BB instantly...its been a while now too..any ideas?
Also, when I upgrade to 4.5, do I need to backup all my apps, messages, phonebook, etc or will it all still be there after upgrading?? Thanks guys

Delete the email, pull the battery, then re-add the email. As far as the back up it will take care of that when upgrade the software...

I you have the O.S. (4.5) then install it on your PC, then hook up your BB, open the DM and it should prompt you to upgrade the O.S., it will also ask you to do a complete back-up, I suggest this option. Check in the 8300 forum at the top it will explain the up-date process....

The 4.5 OS hasn't been released yet. Any 4.5 OS's for the 8330 are unreleased beta versions.

There is no need to backup first as the Desktop Manger will make an automatic backup as part of the process.

Thanks a lot! Now to just find the link to the best beta version..which version is the best so far? (If that's okay to ask). Also all of a sudden after re-linking ny accts..it now only shows a red star for new e-mails over the messages folder but not over the specific hotmail acct folder like it always does..any ideas?

There is only one version of the 4.5 os for CDMA devices that I know of and like JC stated it's beta so I would not know where to get that information for the download...

i know this should be simple but...
I installed 4.5 on my desktop but when I connect the BB and open DM, nothing prompts me to update the device..any ideas?

EDIT: had to delete vendor.xml file apparently..sorry some of this info isn't the easiest to find!

okay another problem: for at least 25 minutes now, since it started doing the upgrade, the desktop mgr has been stuck on "Retrieving wirelessly delivered application modules" and "Retrieving module 'GoogleMaps.cod'"....isn't moving. The phone shows the white screen with the black pic of the device transferring info to the desktop and the device doesn't ever dim or shut the screen off. Don't know what's going on..

Unplug it (it's just stuck in a backup and hasn't erased the device yet.) Reboot the BB by removing the battery. Then close desktop manager, reboot your computer and try it again. I've had this happen, too.

seems to be loading okay now after i uninstalled google maps.
question: are there any known restraints/problems/things not working that should be with these beta 4.5s? Even something small like an icon/navigation problem?

It's included in the 4.5 OS. In application loader you'll see a checkbox for it.

okay, a few problems still:

1.) What's the deal with the new html e-mail not showing all pics even after you click "get pic"?? Most of the time the html is showing instead of plain text, but when I for example drag a web-hosted pic into the message box of a new email and send it to myself, it doesnt show in the email on my BB...I would go back to my Empower trial since it lets you change the colors and display of e-mails, but it seems that now with Empower, every message I get just says "trial mode" and nothing else in the message (unless it's a bug with the new OS that I just loaded up because the Empower trial was working fine before!!)

2.) When my screen backlight has timed out and gone black, usually I would press the trackball in to turn it back on or sometimes the spacebar...whenever I used to click the ball in it would just light up and stay where it is, but now with the new 4.5 OS, I press the trackball to light it back up again, but it acts as if the screen was on already and responds to the ball being pressed and therefore goes into whatever icon it had been highlighting previously (usually the message folder). This is extremely annoying..any fix or is it a bug in 4.5? Desperate to get rid of this issue...

3.) Whenever I try to forward an old message I have on my device to myself again just for whatever reason (all done on the device, not on the desktop), it tries to send then shows a red 'X' next to the e-mail in the list and does not send. What is going on? Happens every time now and never happened to me before!! Fortunately any new e-mails since I upgraded OS/BIS can be forwarded just fine so it's not that big of a deal.

4.) I use the Precision 9000 zen theme and now since I put 4.5 OS on, the theme displays great on the main Zen home screen, but when I click the app button to go to the full app menu, the top banner with the time, date, signal, etc goes back to the normal theme version instead of the Precision version of the banner. Happens every time I go to the full app menu...soo annoying!!

I found something very interesting happen when I receive Hebrew emails in HTML format...

I'm subscribed to the arutz7 newsletter which I receive every day! Today Being the first day for the new BIS 2.5 I couldn't wait till I get the new newsletter so I forwarded todays one to myself to see how it looks.
It looked beautiful...

I just got the new newsletter... What should I tell you... I can't seem to get one Hebrew character out! I tried changing the system font on my BB but didn't help... Then I forwarded the email to myself and wonders happened, the forwarded email came out in perfect Hebrew!! (same happened when I converted the original newsletter to plain text, I was able to read it in Hebrew but couldn't see the Hebrew when I changed it back to HTML...)!

Can someone explain this to me??
I have the pearl 8100 from AT&T with OS 4.5.0.37 installed
