Default BIS 2.5 UPGRADE - RIM scheduled maintenance June 28

Critical-S1 Severity Maintenance (New) for BlackBerry Internet Service (v2.x) Email service for subscribers of *The Americas BIS 2.x (MULT)

**Commentary: Two RIM notifications were issued late this afternoon regarding scheduled maintenance the weekend of June 28-29. One was issued for an eight hour maintenance window for Saturday, June 28, for eight hours, falling between Midnight to 8:00 a.m. Another has been issued for Sunday, June 29, for 30 minutes, falling between their routine 2:00 am - 6:00 am window.

The way I read these, the upgrade takes place Saturday morning, the 28th; and activation takes place on Sunday morning, the 29th. ***


1) Maintenance Summary: BlackBerry Internet Service v2.4 upgrade to v2.5

Impact: BlackBerry Internet Service subscribers may be unable to send or receive messages, use the BlackBerry Internet Service web site, or perform activities such as creating new accounts, accessing their Internet mailbox, integrating third-party email accounts, or viewing email attachments during the maintenance.

Wireless service providers and device resellers may be unable to use BlackBerry administration web sites or perform activities such as creating subscriber accounts or provisioning services for subscribers during the maintenance.

* Change Window Start Date and Time: 28 June 2008 00:00:00 (EDT)
* Change Window End Date and Time: 28 June 2008 08:00:00 (EDT)
* Estimated Duration of Service Impact: 8 hour(s) and 0 minute(s)

(that is eight hours from Midnight to 8 am Eastern Time, Saturnday, June 28)

I don't think OS 4.5 for the CDMA devices is that close-by, more like late summer/fall. But this is not the thread for that discussion.

I hope this is not a dumb question, but will we need to install the latest 4.5 on our devices? Or is the BIS upgrade at on RIMs software all we need in order to accomplish HTML email?
