Its for that reason that I actually want the Javelin. 3G would be nice but its metropolitan areas only and hard on battery life. The javelin has the cam, wifi, and gps all rolled into one, as well--just without the 3G and is a little bit smaller. I think the javelin is going to be the winning device.

THat's not a very flattering picture. Take a look at this page:

More BlackBerry 9300 Javelin Hardware Sweetness! | CrackBerry.com

It is tempting, and while I don't have that much of a need for 3G (prefer longer battery life), the simple fact that it's in the Bold and I can turn it off is a big draw. But this is a very nice phone itself.

How many MAh will the Javelin have? The Bold has 1500, turn off 3g and that's awesome... The Javelin will come with it's already maxed radio configuration :P. 3G isn't that important to me. But the Javelin will have a larger screen and 1 more mp camera! Hmm... Also, the keyboard in the drawing looks great :P... But in the picture that I linked it didn't look so good.

And how much memory will it have on board? The bold will have 1 gb! :-\...

It's hard decision... :(

Will the Javelin come out in 2008? I want to buy another BB before Xmas, at the latest. hehehehe.

I have heard through the grapevine that even RIM employees prefer the Javelin. 3G isn't all that prevalent yet and the Javelin seems to be the preferred device. I live in a small town so 3G won't do me much good. I have wifi/UMA and that's good enough for me. I'm in wifi areas more than I'd be in 3G areas.

How bout video playback? Quality? Extensions supported?
I'd like to have some family vids and movies up to an hour or two on the Bold.

Default micro usb

what's with the micro usb port though?? They have actually managed to maintain the standard of mini-usb through the last how many devices, and now they are going to change it up.. sigh.
Back to maintaining stock of two different charges, two different car chargers, two different piles of usb cables, etc, etc..
thought the 7750's were the last of that, but at least this one is still a standard connector.

My old Moto Q had the micro-USB port. Freakin' sucks! But there is a dongle that slips onto the end of a mini-USB cable (charger or data) to convert it. I still have one laying around, so yay for me! But it's a stupid thing to suddenly go off-standard. If they have good reasons for such a decision, I'd love to hear them.

Default I don't have one, cannot answer that question.

I do not know what's so great about the BOLD, but based on the specs ALOT is good, But I will give you my full thought of the BOLD next week when it arrives.

Ciao till then.

It's these kind of owner reviews that will make up my mind about the Bold or Javelin. And of course fondling one lovingly at an AT&T store.

Yes, when it's released for TMobile. UMA only works on the network with the same brand of device. TMo-TMo or Rogers-Rogers. You can't get UMA on a TMo device running on Rogers.

A BlackBerry smartphone is, to make it short, superior to a device running Windows Mobile, any version. If you are half dissapointed, as I am, with Windows Vista and had to downgrade (as I did) to Windows XP, you know what I'm saying. Problems, missing drivers, all kind of limitations, limited customizable choices. Switching from BlackBerry to Windows Mobile is like being a healthy individual, and voluntarily choosing to get infected with bubonic pest. Why would anyone do that?

To get UMA to work it MUST be a TMo branded device.

I've always thought that the Bold totally looks like an iPhone rip-off, and it becomes so much more obvious when it is juxtaposed next to the Javelin.....

Any more concrete details on when AT&T will be releasing the Javelin???

I'm totally waiting for the Javelin & will pass on the Bold, especially since the Jav has a 3.2MP camera!!!

I have the Pearl, 8100. No GPS and despite having big hands, I could write you pages of literature on that little keyboard - with my eyes closed, no typos. I love it, its great for me!

BUT the lack of 3G is enough for me to want to upgrade. The Bold seems great, but in all honesty, I would trade the Bold for a 3G version of my Pearl. I love the small size.

Here on the other hand, I see people who aren't as excited about 3G as I am. In one case its due to geography (location, distance to/from 3g areas). Any other reasons why 3G might not be all that?
